Over the winter break, my son Troy and I were
having a discussion regarding possessions and "stuff." During the
discussion (which got a little heated) he said, "Yes, Mom, I agree that a
lot of our stuff is nice, but do we really need so much... STUFF?"
It's a poignant question, indeed, and it rings even more true when
stated in the flat, unapologetic wisdom of a 9 year old. More
importantly, it relates to my "New
Year's Resolution" for 2013. My hope is to consume less and PRODUCE
more. I have a multi-point plan to help me accomplish this, the force
majeure being that I intend to buy less "stuff" and USE WHAT I ALREADY
HAVE.
I'm looking forward to a more cost effect, money-saving,
space-creating year wherein I use my own creativity and talents to
better my home and perhaps the homes of others--WITHOUT SPENDING TONS OF
CASH.
I've started fulfilling my new resolution already by
planning to use leftovers and pantry findings for most of this week's
meals.
How will you better your home-life this year???
